Tesla is preparing to present a prototype of the anthropomorphic Tesla Bot in 2022. The head of the company, Elon Musk, said this on Thursday at a corporate conference, which was broadcast on the Tesla website.
According to Musk, the prototype robot will be human-sized (about 172 cm) and weigh about 56 kg, and will be equipped with an artificial intelligence system, as well as a set of sensors used in electric vehicles produced by Tesla.
"If you think about it, Tesla is already the world's largest robot manufacturer, because our cars resemble semi-intelligent robots on wheels," Musk said, noting that the technologies developed by his company "would be logical to clothe in a humanoid form."
The Tesla Bot prototype will be built from lightweight materials. Instead of a face, the robot will be equipped with a monitor on which useful information will be displayed. With about 40 drive mechanisms, the robot will walk at a speed of about 8 km / h and will lift objects weighing up to 20 kg.
"He's supposed to be friendly," the head of the company said with a laugh. He stressed that, first, Tesla Bot will be designed to "perform complex and boring tasks", and will even be able to go shopping. According to Musk, a prototype of the robot will be unveiled "within the next year."
