What is a data processing center (DPC)

The rapid digitalization of all sectors of the economy naturally leads to an increase in the need for storage and processing of large amounts of information. Banking payment systems, online applications, CRM-systems, social networks - require more and more digital space and uninterrupted provision of services. To implement these functions, data processing centers are being created.
What is a data center or data center
A data center is a room or building with server and network equipment connected to a data transmission network. The main task of the data center is to organize a reliable space for storing and processing information data. The engineering and telecommunication complexes of the data center make it possible to provide services even in the event of external accidents or emergencies. It should be noted that if earlier data center rental services were mainly used by larger companies, today smaller enterprises and companies that are just starting their development are also becoming customers. This is due to an increase in the number of data centers and a decrease in the price of data center services.
The main blocks of the data center
Information block - servers and equipment that store, protect and process information.
Telecommunication block - network devices necessary for communication of the information block with the client and with the global Internet.
Engineering block - contains systems that ensure optimal operation of server and network equipment. It includes:
Power supply system. Uninterrupted power supply to the data center is provided through the creation of several independent power inputs, as well as the presence of external power generators, voltage stabilizers and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). This not only allows you to protect devices from possible power surges, but also to continue providing services during a long outage of the main power source.
Air conditioning system. High-performance computing equipment in server rooms has a high level of "heat dissipation". And the lack of proper cooling can not only reduce the performance of the equipment, but also lead to its failure. Therefore, data centers are equipped with industrial air conditioners that can maintain the optimum temperature, clean the air from dust, and maintain the required level of humidity.
Fire safety system. To minimize losses in case of fires, an automated redundant fire extinguishing system was implemented in the data center. One such effective system is based on inhibition. This method involves the injection of halogenated gas, which prevents combustion by reducing the proportion of oxygen in the air.
Monitoring system. Automated monitoring monitors the readings of temperature, humidity, alarms or illegal entry into the premises.
Access Control System. Organized to prevent third parties from accessing the equipment and to preserve the confidentiality of data. As a rule, the entrance to the data center is organized by passes, or by appointment.
Data center services
The DPC provides the following services:
Colocation - rent of data center space to accommodate client equipment. Involves allocating space in a rack the size of one or more units, as well as the entire rack or even several.
Dedicated - renting a physical server for further use according to the needs of the client.
VPS - rent a virtual server with the allocation of the necessary resources of the processor, RAM and disk space. An analogue of renting a physical server, but more economical.
Cloud storage - rent a storage system. It involves the placement of information with the possibility of round-the-clock access.
Server administration . Installing, configuring and configuring operating systems and databases by data center employees, followed by ensuring its smooth operation.
Additional data center services : organization of protection against DDos attacks, purchase of an ISP license, announcement of networks (BGB).
Advantages of using data centers for the client
Economic benefit. Reducing the cost of renting and maintaining technical premises, maintaining staff, paying for Internet service providers, etc.
Data reservation. Ensuring the safety of data by organizing backup and storage in a secure space in the data center. In case of accidents or emergencies, the probability of losing information for the client is minimal.
Security. Protection of data and equipment from external intrusions, fires, floods and break-ins.
Scaling. Flexible system for increasing/decreasing the number of services.
Technical support in the "24/7" mode. Use of round-the-clock technical assistance, as well as systems for monitoring the operation of devices.
Reservation of Internet channels. Ensuring stable access to the data network by connecting to several independent Internet channels.
